Student Accommodation. Presentation Panel
Exhibited at the 2013 Sydney Architecture Festival
The proposal has been designed for students with an aim to promote a self-sustainable community focused on relieving the negative effects of highest rental stress caused by low income, substandard living conditions and the exploitation of students. These current conditions that exist on the site currently inhibit their ability to learn and some positive changes are needed.
My proposal offers well-proportioned rooms with all the amenities a student needs. The design enables students to move fluidly through various different spaces with the idea being to encourage accidental integrations with other students learning other subjects and to help build close nit communities aided by the use of shared facilities and communal spaces. The ground floor offers a range of café’s, shops and classroom facilities exclusively operated and used by the students to generate funds. I would like the building to allow the user the feel safe, positive, relaxed and confident.
