I firstly constructed my own canvas frame out of timber and stretched the canvas material over the frame until tight. I then prepared the canvas by secondly painting it with white acrylic paint and then painted a further thicker layer of black acrylic on top whilst being careful not to leave any brush strokes or visible canvas fibres. Once the base had dried i printed my design sketch onto acetate paper, projected the image onto the canvas using a projected and then began to draw the design in chalk on the the canvas. I then began the long process of painting the design onto the canvas using acrylic paint. I had to work fast because acrylic paint dries very fast and at the same time work slowly to assure the shaded textures were well blended together to create the correct tone and shading. This was a delicate process.
The painting is 4200mm in length and 1100 in height. I wanted it to resemble a living organism moving through space. The vibrant colours resemble the vibrancy and the beauty of life. I also thought as a composition it looks pretty cool :)
